Along the Great River

Along the Great River

When excavating this site, begin by removing the topsoil.

The topsoil may contain fragments of importance,
And the contents are sometimes revealed in an order
Reversed from how they appear.
When excavating this site,
Define the stratigraphic boundaries,
And consider working from the bottom to top.

For example, observe this passage:

Blacksheep, baa baa!  Run over hedgerow road!
Centuries, through you, navigate too.
Machine time 'is up
Warm swells.
G1
H-Ave

_________________________________________________________

When the passage is read from bottom to top, it reads as such:

HG Wells
Warms
Up his time machine
To navigate you through centuries.
Hedgerow Road [is] overrun by black sheep.

NOTE:
  • The name HG is taken from the capital letters.
  • Warm swells is an anagram from "Wells warms."
  • The apostrophe represents an omission of h; therefore 'is becomes his.

"Hedgerow Road" and "Black sheep run" are actual streets in Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and they are crossed by H Avenue.  The following image below shows a map.

Take a look:

This is the location for the 101st Airborne Division whose mission statement reads as follows:  "The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) provides our Nation an unmatched expeditionary Air Assault capability to conduct forcible entry and other worldwide unified land operations in support of combatant commanders."

By combining HG Wells time travel machine with the 101st Airborne Division, a perilous science fiction story might emerge, which could be something like Newsom's 101st Lightborne Elite.

Joanna Newsom - Waltz of the 101st Lightborne...
As the day is long,/so the well runs dry,/and we came to see Time
is taller/than Space is wide./And we bade goodbye/to the Great
Divide:/found unlimited simulacreage to colonize!

Okkervil River - Black Sheep Boy
I'm the family's unowned boy/golden curls of envied hair/pretty girls with
faces fair/see the shine in the Black Sheep Boy

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
If there's a bustle in your hedgerow/Don't be alarmed now/It's just a
spring clean for the May queen/Yes, there are two paths you can go
by/But in the long run/There's still time to change the road you're on/
And it makes me wonder

When all of this is no more,
What will be the greatest sentence ever written by man?

Will the sentence be one subject-predicate,
Or will the sentence be the entire collection of words and phrases ever uttered.

_______________________________________

Will the sentence expose all nations
And honor G-d,
Or will it backtrack and erase everything that came before it?
Will it transcend all the 'ever was'
And allow the wisdom of the ancients to shine brightly
Right next to the curséd and criminally inclined?

Will the sentence carry meaning beyond the words
Or will the sentence be made by a stern judge
Who condemns the word's birth as a new
Combination of letters
That will perhaps be spoken
As the last syllable of recorded time?

Given an infinite combination of syllables
And an infinite combination of spaces and letters,
One of the combined combinations will speak
A sentence that reveals the truth.

A thousand time over,
; ngxvl;tk ncr,l vtk,m
These words are written to filter their way
Like a line in command.

The post-Enlightened
Criminal cases
Will call on these words,
And key witnesses will stand before the judge.

In life's deposition
The words filter down to the next in command.
It is the surprising sleeper-souls
Who thought to take notes.

No matter the age,
We managed to say
The very same thing
Again and again.

What happens when a Shaman
Awakens in the city
With no one to train him
And no one who's friendly?

What happens when the words
Are then rearranged
In another order
Than they were said
But retain their message?

These words,
Now infinitely buried,
Appear on a shore
Along a great river.

Though coded in metadata,
And though rearranged,
Though in another dimension,
These words have been saved.

Given an infinite number of combinations
And a finite number of letters,
One string of words
Will ring through the world.
Glory, Glory!
He is risen!

For that chance, I write them,
And they appear on a shore of that very great river.
When open and read
Perhaps the words connect.
